Wikipedia article infobox update services revise the structured summary at the top of an article, correcting dates, names, roles and links with sources and the right template. Accurate infoboxes help knowledge panels and AI assistants quote correct facts.

Infobox fields are short, so errors stand out. A single wrong figure can propagate to search results and chatbots.
We check every field against independent sources and make sure the article text supports it.

The infobox as a data layer
The infobox is more than a visual summary. It is a structured data layer on top of an article. Each field has a name and a value, and the combination can be read by humans and machines. When someone searches for a company’s founder or headquarters, the answer displayed in a panel may come from the infobox or the connected Wikidata record. That is why precision matters.
Editors maintain infoboxes using templates, and each template defines which fields exist, how they display and how they link. Understanding the template for your subject type is the first step to editing it correctly.
Common field types
Identity fields: name, native name, former names, image and caption.Date and place fields: founding, birth, death, headquarters and region.Role fields: occupation, key people, parent or subsidiaries.Quantitative fields: revenue, employees, assets, with dates and sources.External fields: website, social media where permitted and identifiers. Each has conventions. For example, headquarters are listed as place names, not full postal addresses, and revenue is given for a specific fiscal year.
Sourcing infobox values
Wikipedia policy requires that values in the infobox be verifiable. In practice that means the body of the article supports each value with a citation, or the infobox itself includes one. For stable, uncontroversial values such as a founding year already supported in the text, an extra reference in the box is unnecessary. For figures that change, citations should be explicit.
When independent sources disagree, we prefer the most recent and reliable, record the discrepancy in the body and avoid placing disputed values in the box.
Typical errors in client infoboxes
- Marketing taglines in the “industry” or “slogan” fields.
- Employee counts and revenue with no date.
- Former leaders still shown as current.
- Websites that redirect to a different domain.
- Parent and subsidiary links that point to disambiguation pages.
- Broken image fields after a file was deleted.
Each is simple to fix when the right source exists.
Infoboxes across languages
When an article is translated, its infobox is rebuilt with the target edition’s template, which may have different parameter names. We check that translated infoboxes display correctly and that values are localised. If Wikidata drives some fields, we review the record so that all languages show consistent values.
Process and deliverables
We audit, prepare a change list with sources, apply or propose edits, then verify display on desktop and mobile. You receive a before-and-after summary that lists each value, the old and new text and the reference used.
Pricing and next steps

In-depth answers about infobox updates
Who decides what goes in the infobox? Editors collectively, guided by the template documentation for each infobox type and by article-specific discussions on the talk page. There is no owner. If you disagree with an entry, the right route is to raise it on the talk page with a source. Can the infobox include my company slogan? Generally no. Slogans are marketing language. Where a template has a field for a motto, it is intended for official mottos of institutions, not advertising taglines. Why was my logo removed from the infobox? Common reasons are that the file lacked a correct licence or non-free use rationale, that it was too high resolution for non-free use, or that it had been replaced by a different version. We check the file’s status and fix the problem if possible. Why does the infobox show different information from the text? Because values were edited separately, or because the infobox pulls from Wikidata while the text was updated manually. We reconcile them. Can the infobox show multiple headquarters? The convention is to list the principal headquarters and mention other offices in the body, unless the template supports multiple entries for a clear reason. What if sources disagree about the founding date? We choose the best-supported date, mention the alternative in the body with citations and avoid editing back and forth.A worked example
Imagine a mid-sized consultancy whose article states 120 employees, a London headquarters and a former chief executive. Two years later, the firm has 340 staff, has moved to Manchester and appointed a new chief executive. We would first find independent confirmation of each change, for example a regional business article about the relocation and a trade publication covering the appointment. We would then prepare an edit request: update the headquarters field with a citation, change the key people field and either update the employee figure with a dated source or remove it if no reliable current source exists.
In the article body, we would revise the history section to describe the relocation and leadership change, so that the box and text agree. If the logo changed, we would check licensing before replacing the image. The whole update might involve a dozen small edits, each explained, and could be completed in days once sources are in hand.
Infobox accessibility and mobile display
Infoboxes are rendered differently on mobile, where they often collapse to the top of the article. Overlong fields, unusual characters or large images can look poor on small screens. We check the mobile display and simplify entries where needed. We also provide alternative text for images so that screen readers can describe them.
Because mobile traffic now accounts for most Wikipedia reading, a clean mobile infobox matters as much as the desktop version.
Using the infobox to reduce future errors
A well-maintained infobox helps prevent mistakes, because editors who update it must also check the text. We add hidden comments in some fields, where appropriate, to alert future editors to sources and expectations, for example noting that a value requires a citation or that the date reflects a specific fiscal year. Short, factual comments help volunteers avoid inadvertent errors.
