Wikipedia page infobox update services correct and refresh the summary box at the top of a page, including names, dates, roles, locations, websites and images, using sourced data and the right template. Accurate infoboxes also help search engines and knowledge graphs read the page.
Last updated October 2026 by the Wikiagency LTD editorial team.
Infoboxes are templates with fixed fields. A wrong founding date, an outdated job title or a missing website spreads quickly because other platforms read this data.
Every infobox value must also be supported by the article body or its citations, so we update the text and the box together.

Policies we follow
Infobox data must be verifiable. We do not insert unsourced claims, and we disclose our paid role. Where data conflicts with sources, the sources win. Read our guides on how to create a Wikipedia page and how to update Wikipedia pages for the rules in detail.
Timeline and pricing

What the infobox is and why it carries weight
The infobox is the structured box at the top right of many Wikipedia pages. It condenses the page into a handful of labelled facts: a person’s birth date, occupation and notable works; a company’s founding date, headquarters, key people, industry and website; an organisation’s type, location and founding. It is built from a template with named fields, and each field displays a value that editors have entered.
Because the box is structured and prominent, it is one of the most reused parts of Wikipedia. Search engines draw on it for knowledge panels. Voice assistants and chatbots frequently read it when summarising a subject. Other websites copy it automatically. An error in the infobox therefore travels further and faster than an error in the middle of a paragraph.
Choosing the right infobox template
Wikipedia has hundreds of infobox templates, each designed for a type of subject. A person might use a general biography infobox, or a specialised one for a musician, politician, athlete or academic. A company uses a company template, a non-profit may use an organisation template and a product, book or film has its own. Using the wrong one can omit important fields or display irrelevant ones, and some editors will replace an inappropriate template.
We check the template that best fits the subject and its conventions, looking at similar pages that are well maintained. When a page has none, we add one, along with the supporting text that the infobox values rely on.
Field-by-field accuracy
Names and dates. Birth and founding dates should match independent biographical or business sources. Where sources conflict, we use the most reliable and note the discrepancy in the article body.Titles and roles. Current positions need a recent independent source, such as a news article reporting an appointment. Past roles should be dated.Location. Headquarters should reflect the registered or principal location as documented. Many companies have several offices, and the infobox typically lists only the headquarters.Figures. Revenue, employee numbers and similar values change often. They should include a date and a citation, or be omitted if not reliably sourced.Websites and social links. The official website field should show the correct current address. Wikipedia has rules about including social media links, so we follow convention for the subject type.Images and logos. Image fields must refer to properly licensed files; see our image update service.Infobox and article text must agree
Policy requires that material in the infobox be supported by the body of the article or its citations. If the box says a company was founded in 2011 but the history section says 2012, an editor will notice and one of them will be changed, often without discussion. We make sure the box, the lead and the body align before we publish any change, and we add citations to the body for any figure that appears in the box.
Infoboxes, Wikidata and search
Many infobox fields can pull values from Wikidata, the structured database behind Wikipedia, rather than from text entered on the page. Wikidata is also used by search engines and applications as a source of facts. If the Wikidata entry for your subject is wrong or incomplete, you may see inconsistencies between what Wikipedia displays and what appears elsewhere. As part of an infobox project we review the Wikidata item for the subject and correct values using the same independent sources.
This is also where some accuracy problems originate: an outdated Wikidata value can silently reappear on Wikipedia or in another application.
Typical infobox problems
- Founding dates or headquarters that changed and were never updated.
- Missing official website or an old domain.
- Numbers presented without dates or sources.
- The wrong template, for example a person template used for an organisation.
- Unlinked or incorrectly linked parent companies and subsidiaries.
- Logos or images uploaded without correct licensing.
- Outdated leadership.
How we conduct an infobox update
We start by comparing every field with independent sources and noting what is wrong, outdated or missing. We then prepare the corrected values with a reference for each. Where we are permitted to edit directly, we make the change with a clear edit summary and disclosure. Where a conflict of interest applies, we place an edit request on the talk page with the exact wording for an independent editor to review. After the change goes live, we check the display on desktop and mobile and make sure no template errors appear.
Pricing and next steps
Infobox updates are usually quick and are priced by the number of fields and the amount of source work. Send us the page link through the quote form above, or book a free consultation. See also our article infobox update services, page updating services and editing services.
In-depth answers about page infobox updates
Why does my infobox show an old logo? The image field may still point to a previous file, or the new file may have been deleted for licensing reasons. We check the file history and the licence status, then upload or restore the right file where permitted. Can I add awards to the infobox? Some templates have an awards field, but it is intended for significant recognitions. Overloading the box with minor awards looks promotional and is often removed. What does “unknown” or a blank field mean? It means no reliable value has been entered. A blank field is better than a wrong or unsourced value. Can the infobox be changed without changing the text? Technically yes, but it is poor practice because the two must agree. We always check both.Who maintains the infobox template itself? Volunteers who curate templates for each subject type. Changes to a template affect thousands of pages, so they are discussed on the template’s talk page. If you want to propose a new field, that is the place. Will infobox changes show in Google quickly? It varies. Search engines refresh their data on their own schedules.Infobox pitfalls for companies
Company infoboxes accumulate problems because businesses change. Parent and subsidiary relationships alter after acquisitions. Industry classifications evolve. Executives move on. The revenue field, if used, becomes stale after a year. The website changes after a rebrand. Former names are forgotten. Each of these requires a source to correct, and the sources are typically news articles or regulatory filings. For listed companies, stock exchange filings are strong sources for financial data and corporate details.
We keep a field-by-field checklist for company infoboxes and review it after each major corporate event, using independent coverage and official filings to confirm values.
Infobox pitfalls for people
Biographical infoboxes are sensitive. Birth dates, family details and residence need strong sources, and in some cases partial dates are used to protect privacy. Occupations should reflect what sources call the person, not self-descriptions. Years active, notable works and affiliations should be accurate and neutral. Awards and honours belong where independently documented. We follow the biography-of-living-persons guideline closely and avoid including anything that is not clearly supported.
After the update
Once an infobox change is live, we check three things: the display on desktop and mobile, the consistency of the article text and the Wikidata item. We also leave a short note on the talk page summarising the update and sources, so that future editors understand the basis for each value. If someone later changes a field without a source, our note provides a reference point for restoring the correct value.
