Wikipedia deleted article recovery services investigate why an article was deleted and then pursue restoration, draft recovery, deletion review or a rebuilt article with new sources. Administrators and the community make the final decision, so recovery cannot be guaranteed.
Last updated October 2026 by the Wikiagency LTD editorial team.
Articles disappear after community discussions, proposed deletion or an administrator’s action under a speedy criterion. Each has a separate process.
We study the deletion record, learn what the objection was and decide whether the better path is to appeal, restore to draft or start with stronger sources.
What our deleted article recovery services include
- Deletion log and discussion analysis
- Identification of the specific criterion
- Undeletion or draft-restoration request
- Deletion review case preparation
- Source research addressing the original objection
- A rebuilt article where restoration is not suitable
How the process works
- Investigate. We read the record.
- Decide. We choose the route.
- Prepare. We build the case or the new draft.
- Pursue. We file and follow up.
Who this service is for
- Subjects deleted after a debate
- Articles removed as promotional
- Articles deleted via proposed deletion
- Subjects with new coverage since deletion
Policies we follow
We do not circumvent deletion decisions. Re-creating deleted content to avoid review can lead to blocks, so we use sanctioned processes only. Read our guides on how to create a Wikipedia page and how to update Wikipedia pages for the rules in detail.
Timeline and pricing
Standard includes restoration support for deletions within 6 months and Premium within 12 months. Other cases are quoted.
Deletion is common, and often reversible in part
Thousands of articles are deleted from English Wikipedia every week. Most deletions are of newly created pages that failed an obvious test: no indication of significance, advertising, copyright violations or duplicates. A smaller number follow discussion about notability. Because the volume is high and the process is run by volunteers, decisions are sometimes imperfect, and a deleted article may deserve a second look, particularly when new coverage has appeared since.
Recovery services exist because the rules for challenging a deletion are not obvious. Many owners react by re-posting the article, which almost always makes things worse.
Reading the deletion record
Wikipedia keeps a public deletion log. For each deleted article it shows the date, the administrator, the criterion and a short rationale. For articles deleted after discussion, the discussion remains accessible and shows who argued what and which sources were considered. We read these records carefully, because they reveal precisely what the community found lacking.
Common rationales include “not notable”, “promotional”, “copyright violation” and “no consensus to keep”. Each implies a different fix.
Fixing the cause, not the symptom
The path to a durable article is to fix the cause. If the article was deleted for lack of notability, the answer is new independent coverage or a re-examination of whether the subject is suited to an encyclopedia at all. If the article was promotional, the answer is a neutral rewrite. If it breached copyright, the answer is original text. If the process was flawed, the answer is a well-argued review.
Trying to restore the original text without addressing the cause invites a repeat deletion and, for paid editors, damage to credibility.
The recovery routes
We use four routes depending on the facts: undeletion by request when an administrator agrees the reason no longer applies; restoration to draft space for work in progress; formal deletion review when the process or interpretation was wrong; and a rebuilt article when the original cannot be saved. Each route has its etiquette: concise requests, clear evidence, courteous tone and acceptance that the decision belongs to the community.
What we need from you
To start, we need the exact title, approximate date of deletion, any notice or message you received and a list of independent coverage that exists now. We also need to know whether anyone with a connection to the subject has edited the article before, since this affects how we disclose and which routes we use.
Outcomes and honesty
Some recoveries succeed quickly, others take months and some are not possible. We tell you which situation you are in after our initial review and update you as it develops. If recovery is not viable, we explain what would change that, for example specific coverage you could seek.
Protection against future deletion
Once an article is back, we strengthen it with independent sources, neutral wording and a documented notability case on the talk page. We also recommend monitoring so that any new challenge is answered promptly. Our Standard and Premium creation packages include restoration support within 6 and 12 months respectively.

In-depth answers about deleted article recovery
Can I get a copy of my deleted article? Administrators can view deleted content, and in many cases will provide a copy by request, for example by restoring it to your user space or to a draft. Exceptions include articles deleted for copyright violation or for legal reasons, which are not restored. Is deletion permanent? No. Deleted content is hidden, not erased, and can be restored by administrators. The question is whether it should be.What is the difference between deletion and draftification? Deletion removes the page from public view. Draftification moves it to draft space, where it remains visible and editable but is not part of the main encyclopedia. Draftification is a common outcome for pages that are not ready. How long should I wait before trying again? There is no fixed period, but waiting until there is meaningful new coverage is wise. An immediate re-submission without new evidence is almost always declined. What if the deletion was due to a conflict of interest? A conflict of interest is not itself a reason for deletion; promotional content or lack of notability are. But undisclosed paid editing can lead to heightened scrutiny. We help clients correct course openly. Can I appeal to someone outside Wikipedia? The Wikimedia Foundation generally does not intervene in content decisions, which are made by volunteer communities. The appropriate channels are internal.Deletion reasons and their fixes

Fix: only through resolving the underlying account issue; we advise against involvement.Duplicate. Fix: merge into the existing article or add the missing material there.A realistic recovery story
A founder contacts us after her company’s article was deleted following a discussion in which reviewers argued that its sources were all press releases and local listings. We review the discussion and agree. Since the deletion, the company has been featured in a national business magazine and in a book on regional startups. We assess these new sources, find them independent and in-depth, and recommend a deletion review combined with a rebuilt draft. We prepare a draft in user space from the new sources, not the old text. We file a concise request noting the new coverage. Reviewers agree that the situation has changed, and the draft is moved into the encyclopedia. The article survives because it is a different article, built on different evidence.
